ZAMBRA: Arabic word that signifies a Moorish party with music and merriment. Later, it came to mean a celebration of the Andalusian gypsies. The kind that is presently cultivated is the zambra granadina in the Cuevas del Sacromonte. It is integrated by three dances of minimal character; la alboreá, la cachucha and la mosca, that symbolize three moments of the gypsy wedding. This mimicry that is reflected aspires to display the antiquity of the dance. The song and guitar work that it accompanies results somewhat monotonous due to its rhythm without highs or lows, being continuous and uniform. It is played in mid range and por arriba only, although the most common is to play it mid range. A version exists with orquestral accompaniment created by professional musicians of this song and dance popularized in the forties and fifties by Manolo Caracol and Lola Flores, that lend much to the theatrical aspect.
