JALEAR: Encouraging and accompanying the flamenco interpreters with palmas, gestures and different expressions.

JALEAOR: Member of the flamenco ensemble assigned to jalear or encourage the interpreters.

JALEO: Action and effect of jalear; also in conjunction to expressions, phrases of admiration and interjections that are extended, in the form of intuitive and spontaneous cries, to express enthusiasm or to encourage the interpreters. Constituting, along with the palmas, the starting of the action of the audience, even though this action is also manifested between the same performers to encourage each other. Some of the most used articulations in Andalusian phonetics to jalear include: iezo! iezo !, ole!, agua!, azcar!, iazuquiqui!, toma!, toma que toma!, as se canta!, imu bien dicho!, s se!, vamos all!, rasca!, quiero!, castaa!

JIPOS: Each of the “ayes” that give character to flamenco song; similar to wailing or moaning. Its main function is to add jondura, although sometimes the flamenco singer does it to warm up. It is a sharp sound, like a prolonged ‘ay’ in which the not only the entrance is supported but also the endings of each phrase.

JONDO: An assessment of flamenco song, dance and guitar, applied in subjective valuation, as much to the lyrics as the music, in which it attempts to indicate solemnity, a archaic flavor, originality and identification with the genuine rhythmic manifestations.
