BABEO: Labial vibration that intervenes the phoneme ‘b’ with the last vocal of the previous word repeating the previous syllable that some interpreters practice when singing.

BAILAOR: Interpreter of flamenco dance.

BAILE: Flamenco is a vibrant dance, constantly evolving and strongly documented for two centuries, but its basic characteristics seem to have been crystallized between 1869 and 1929, known as the golden age of flamenco, that coincides with the splendor of song and guitar. The fundamentals of the flamenco dance are that it remains indissolubly bound to the guitar, essential instrument of flamenco.

BAJINI, por lo: When the verse of a song is sung in medium voice, almost mumbled or whispered, in reunions of aficionados. It is also one of the forms, which occur in the ‘llamar apuntar’ of the song.

BAJAÑÍ: Caló (gypsy) term for guitar.

BALANCEO: Denomination of some movements of the dancer when interpreting certain dances, as in the rumba and the guajira, which fundamentally consist of torso inclinations in all directions and in undulatory movements of the hips and of shoulders from top to bottom, following the beat of the style.

BATA: Costume of the andaluz female dancer when taking part in certain celebrations, as in las flamencas. It can consist of, according to the dance being interpreted, ruffles, short and flowing, or as a long train.

BOCA: Circular orifice or ‘mouth’ in the resonance box of the guitar.

BORDÓN: The sixth chord of the guitar, although it can also be applied to the fourth and the fifth, that emit the deepest notes. It is also used in the expressions: “bordonear” y “bordoneo”.

BRACEO: Movements of the arms (brazo) that execute the interpretation of the dance. Whereas the male dancer’s tends to be strong and rigid, the female dancer’s is more harmonious, serpentine and soft.

BULEAERO: To apply oneself to the repertoire or compilation of bulerías and the specialized interpretation of the song or the dance por bulerías.
